Flood Advisory issued May 23 at 10:48AM EDT until May 23 at 1:00PM EDT by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following county, Suffolk. * WHEN...Until 100 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1048 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Riverhead, Mattituck, Southampton, Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton, Gardiners Island, Noyack, Montauk Point, Shinnecock Hills, East Hampton, Hither Hills State Park, Hampton Bays, Springs, East Quogue, Flanders, North Sea, Cutchogue, Montauk, Aquebogue and Jamesport. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
