Flood Advisory issued May 19 at 1:06AM EDT until May 19 at 2:45AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the following county, Watauga. * WHEN...Until 245 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 106 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Dutch Creek, Beech Creek, Brushy Fork, Beaverdam Creek, Hoskin Fork, Grassy Gap Creek, George Gap Branch, Kirby Branch, Laurel Branch, Grassy Creek, Craborchard Creek and Cove Creek. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Boone... Blowing Rock... Beech Mountain... Sugar Grove... Foscoe... Todd... In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
